Volcan Irazu

Yesterday we went to Volcan Irazu, about 1 1/2 hours from San Jose. It was a beautiful drive, but we couldn't believe it was Costa Rica! It looked like Switzerland (although we had never been there) and it also looked like Alaska in some parts. It goes to show you how beautiful it was. Anyways, we drove up the mountain. It was getting colder as we got up, and when we stopped to get a Sprite at a restaurant/information center, it was 45 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit at the most. Let's just say I'm going to be a wimp when I come back to Alaska!
So we got to the guard station place thingy, bought our tickets to get into the park, and continued onto the volcano. My dad parked the car, we all got out, and we started the 2 minute hike to the first crater. The first crater was a big open space with a little lake and a field around it. It was open to walk down to and take pictures and stuff. The second one was a little deeper down. About 262 feet down. Then there was the third. It was HUGE! Way, way, way deeper than 262 feet. At the bottom of this huge crater was not a lot of water, but
around it the rock structure was incredible. So gigantic and indescribable! Despite of my stomach hurting, I really did enjoy the experience!
